Susan approaches parenting as a spiritual practice, a practice of compassion, gratitude, self-reflection and connection. She appreciates that as we parent our children; we also “re-parent” ourselves, and can come to an understanding of how our upbringing impacts each of us, and its impact on our own parenting style. She greatly enjoys exploring this dynamic as she teaches effective parenting skills to help parents of children of all ages.
For over 30 years Susan Nason has been a facilitator of the Faber/Mazlish “How To Talk So Kids Will Listen, How To Listen So Kids Will Talk” and “Siblings Without Rivalry” workshops. Susan brings her expertise that has been honed and developed during her career working with children in a school setting where her responsibilities include counseling and communicating with parents as the school’s Parent Educator as well as her position as Assistant to the Director. Susan has a thriving domestic and international Spiritual Counseling practice specializing in exploring conscious parenting employing spiritual, therapeutic and practical approaches to the challenges of raising children.
Susan is available to counsel parents in groups, privately, during home visits and by phone. You will find her counseling style to be supportive, helpful and informative. She facilitates workshops at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, All Souls Church School, First Presbyterian Church Nursery School, Barrow Street Nursery School, Rockefeller Children’s School, Ross Global Academy; in addition, she conducts teacher trainings in and around the tri-state area. She is a frequent speaker for the Parents’ League and other organizations.

Here’s what some of Susan’s clients say about working with her:
“Susan’s workshop has been amazing. When I first read How to Talk, I thought, “I’d really like a study-buddy for this book” – and then I discovered her workshop! Her insights are incredibly helpful, delivered with her patient and understanding manner. The book, combined with the workshop, have made me feel successful with my children more than I could have imagined. Great tools. I’m hoping that our group keeps meeting forever!”
~ Julie S., NYC, Leadership/Organizational Consultant, mother of two girls
“The discussions bring some much-needed clarity to the overwhelming demands of parenting. Help me to focus on the “big picture” while managing the day to day with less stress and fewer regrets. It’s rare to find parenting advice that doesn’t leave you feeling more guilty and less “adequate” – Susan’s advice and guidance can!”
~ Dr. Barb D., NYC, mother of twins
“Every parent should learn to channel their inner Susan. It will save a lot of tears on both the parents and children’s parts.”
~ Kimberly M., NYC, mother of two
“Susan brought me closer to my daughter and a whole new understanding of being a mother. I think I will thank Susan for the rest of my life because somewhere in my head, she turned a switch. She helped my husband and I slow down and notice things in our child and in ourselves. To speak less and to hear more. It’s almost hard to explain how one woman- Susan Nason- can impart ideas that can change your life this much: I was skeptical myself! But now I can firmly say, you have to meet her!”
